1. Business Proposal
The romantic plot of Business Proposal (사내 맞선, sanae matchseon), which literally translates to “company blind date“, revolves around Shin Hari & Kang Taemoo. Shin Hari is just trying to help out her friend by going on a blind date, but things take an unexpected turn when she finds out the man is her company’s CEO, Kang Taemoo. What starts as a fake dating scheme soon turns into a whirlwind romance filled with hilarious moments, unexpected twists, and a growing bond between the two.
At the end of episode 1, Taemoo said to Hari, “내가 결혼하고 싶은 건 당신이라고요 (naega gyeolhonhago sipeun geon dangsiniragoyo),” which directly translates to “The one I want to marry is you.“
Although Taemoo said that because he wants to appease his grandfather’s wishes, it seems that Taemoo is interested in Hari too!
After many twists and turns, their love finally blossoms in episode 8 when Taemoo confesses to Hari, “더 다가오면 나 다시는 하리씨 안 놓칩니다 (deo dagaomyeon na dashineun Harissi an nochimnida),” followed by a passionate kiss. It literally means, “If you come any closer, I will never let go of you, Hari.”

2. Crash Landing on You
How can we forget about Crash Landing on You (사랑의 불시착, sarang-ui bulshichak) when a freak paragliding accident sends South Korean heiress Yoon Seri crashing into North Korea, where she meets stoic army officer Ri Jeonghyeok. Despite the massive differences in their worlds, sparks fly between them as they fight to protect Seri and bring her back home while navigating their feelings for each other amidst the tension of two countries on the brink of war.
In episode 7, Jeonghyeok is hospitalized after risking his life to save Seri from an ambush. While he’s unconscious, Seri softly says, “나한텐 당신이 있었더라 (nahanten dangsini isseotdeora),” expressing her deep feelings for him as she recalls how bravely he rescued her. In this emotional scene, the phrase “You were everything to me” highlights just how important Jeonghyeok is to Seri.
In the final episode, they are finally reunited, and the first thing Seri says is, “이럴 줄 알았어 당신이라면 나 찾을 수 있을 줄 알았어 (ireol jul arasseo, dangsinirammyeon na chajeul su isseul jul arasseo).” He then responds, “오고 싶었떤 여기 내 목적지 (ogo sipeottdeon yeogi nae mokjeokji),” before sharing a loving kiss.
The direct translation is, “I knew this would happen, I knew that if it were you, you would be able to find me” and “This is the place I wanted to come to, my destination.”
It’s definitely not your typical romance K-drama plot, but you can learn Korean with Netflix’s romance shows with this one!
3. Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha
Learning Korean with Netflix’s romance shows is easy with Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha (갯마을 차차차, gaetmaeul chachacha), where Yoon Hyejin, a dentist from Seoul, moves to the picturesque seaside town of Gongjin and meets the charming yet mysterious Hong Dusik. As Hyejin and Dusik’s relationship blossoms, they discover the magic of small-town life, love, and finding happiness in the little things.
After Hyejin’s confession in episode 10, Dusik responds with, “나도 이제 더는 어쩔 수가 없다 (nado ije deoneun eojjeol su ga eopda),” before leaning in to kiss Hyejin, solidifying their relationship. While it translates to “I can’t help it anymore” or “I have no choice now”, the phrase expresses a sense of inevitability, as if Dusik has come to the realization that he can no longer hold back his feelings.
In the final chapter, Hyejin gathers the courage to propose to Dusik, asking, “나랑 결혼해 줄래? (narang gyeolhonhae julrae? Will you marry me?)” Little did she know, Dusik had been planning to propose to her, too! What an adorable couple they are! 4. Love Next Door
Love Next Door (엄마친구아들, eomma chingu adeul), which literally translates to “Mom’s Friend’s Son“, tells the story of two neighbors who unexpectedly fall for each other. A young woman (Bae Seokryu) moves into a new apartment only to discover her intriguing next-door neighbor (Choi Seunghyo). As they grow closer, they unravel their pasts and find comfort in each other’s company, sparking a sweet and surprising romance.
Patiently awaiting a response to his confession (episode 8), Seunghyo tells Seokryu, “옆에는 좋은 사람만 있길 바라고 그냥 그게 내 마음이야 (yeopeneun joeun saramman itgil barago geunyang geuge nae maeumiya),” expressing his wish for her to be surrounded by good people while revealing that this is how he truly feels. His actions are the epitome of a gentleman, showing he’s willing to patiently wait for Seokryu to accept his courtship.
Seokryu has been preparing for a new chapter in her life, but she’s struggling with health concerns. In chapter 14, Seunghyo comforts her by saying, “나 너랑 살고 싶어 … 나는 너여야만 해 (na neorang salgo sipeo … naneun neoyeoyaman hae),” expressing that he only wants to build a life with her, and it has to be with no one else but Seokryu.

5. True Beauty
True Beauty (여신강림, yeoshin gangnim), which literally translates to “The Goddess Descends“, follows Im Jukyung, a high school girl who transforms into a beauty through the magic of makeup after being bullied for her looks. With her newfound confidence, she catches the attention of two very different boys: the brooding Lee Suho and the charming rebel Han Seojun.
To clear up the misunderstanding, Suho finally confesses his feelings to Ju-kyung during their school trip, saying, “내가 좋아하는 사람 너야 (naega johahaneun saram neoya),” before pulling her into a sweet kiss. Saying, “The person I like is you,” is such a bold and straightforward confession, omo! (episode 8)
In a scene where Jukyung is about to leave Suho’s apartment, Suho, holding her from behind, gently asks, “안 가면 안 돼? 굳이 늦었는데 가지 마 (an gamyeon an dwae? Gudi neujeonneunde gaji ma),” urging her to stay. Although it can be translated as “Can’t you stay? It’s already late, but don’t go,” this is a heartfelt and sincere plea from Suho, showing his strong desire to keep Jukyung close. Omo! What a perfect ending for them!
