SCHOOL INTRODUCTION

The Korean Language Institute (KLI) at Yeungnam University was founded in 2002 to help international students who are interested in learning the Korean Language and culture and also help those interested in furthering their academic career with Yeungnam University. The KLI offers courses that are focused on four skills; listening, speaking, reading, writing and also offers a variety of cultural programs for the students in order for them to gain a better understanding of Korea.

SCHOOL INTENSITY

Medium-High intensity means that this school’s pace is above average. This means you’ll have to do a bit more work to keep up with the pace of the course, but in the end, it means you’ll be learning and mastering the language faster.

School Features

Language Exchange Program (LEP)

One (1) KLI student and one (1) Korean student are paired to study together for 30 hours over 10 weeks. Any KLI student is eligible.

ACCEPTS BEGINNER STUDENTS

Don’t worry if you’ve never learned any Korean before. The school offers courses that start from the very basics designed to let students from any country or language background learn easily!

ENGLISH-SPEAKING STAFF AVAILABLE

The staff are professionals who will be able to assist you with any issues you may have during your studies.

STUDENT LOUNGE AVAILABLE

A comfortable space where you can do some studying, mix and mingle with your fellow students, or even just take a break.

WIFI AVAILABLE IN COMMON AREAS

Need Internet to look up vocabulary you can’t remember, or text the friend you just met in class? Use the free wifi available at school!

STUDENT DORM

One of the best parts of being a student is the student dorm – the school operates dormitories which are all close to the school, making them one of the cheapest and most convenient options for student housing.

Special TOPIK Class

If you are Korean language student at Yeungnam you can apply for a special TOPIK preparation class if your level is above intermediate.

School Textbook

The school published it’s own textbook and it provides structured learning methods that help to enhance speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.

GYEONGSAN

Gyeongsan City is a neighbor city of Daegu Metropolitan City, the 3rd largest city in Korea. The university is also located in a university town where many local students gather. It takes about 30 minutes from the university to downtown Daegu City by subway. The university is very close to public transportation such as the subway, buses, and taxis. Gyeongsan Railway Station is 5 minutes away from the university. The Korean Language Institute of Yeungnam University is on the 3rd floor in the International Building, just beside of the main gate of the university.

Regular Program

Our regular courses focuses on speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Topics include pop culture, current events, and more. Classes use textbooks and other materials on a daily basis. In addition to classroom instruction, our teachers lead field trips off campus to help with your immersion in a Korean-speaking environment.
