The Hanyang University Visiting Program is open to any undergraduate student (bachelor's degree candidate) who wants to do an exchange program in Korea.

Hanyang University is a private research-focused university in South Korea and has two campuses, Seoul (main) and ERICA. It was founded in 1939 as the nation's first engineering institute (DongA Engineering Institute) and now has over 32,000 students in 24 colleges and 21 graduate schools.

Through various proactive efforts to boast its international competitiveness, Hanyang has been improving its global position in both the THE and QS World Rankings in recent years. In addition, its alumni have been the driving force for national development in various areas of society, historically in the field of engineering, and thus gaining the university the nickname of “The Engine of Korea”.

The university welcomes around 10,000 foreign students each year and sends more than 3,000 students abroad annually in cooperation with 800 partners around the world.

Hanyang increases its efforts to foster talented individuals who, among other skills, possess effective communication and negotiation skills, an entrepreneurial spirit, technical know-how, and the creativity needed to thrive in this ever-changing world. What is a visiting program?

Hanyang University's visiting student program offers opportunities to students from partner or non-partner institutions to study for a semester or a year in one of Korea's top universities located in the center of Seoul, the capital city of Korea.

In addition to gaining academic excellence, students can enjoy a beautiful and culturally rich environment. You can study minimum 1 semester (6 months) in March or September and easily extend your study period.

School Features

Credits and Credit Transfer

You can take up to 20 credits per semester and ask for credit transfer to your university/college in your home country.

Course in English or Korean

You can choose to take classes in Korean or you can choose any of the 124 departments with over 1,000 courses offered in English.

Easy application

No GPA or language proficiency required; you only need to be currently enrolled as a university student outside Korea and have completed at least one semester in your degree program.


In 2018, Hanyang was ranked 1st for the number of CEO alumni of venture companies. In 2019, QS World University Rankings ranked Hanyang University 150th.


One of the best parts of being a student is the student dorm – the school operates dormitories which are all close to the school, making them one of the cheapest and most convenient options for student housing.


You will be introduced to the student clubs so that you can have a new network of friends with Korea students.

With easy access from Wangsimni Station on the Seoul Subway Line 2, Line 5, the Gyeongui-Jungang Line, and the Bundang Line, there are lots of places for Hanyang University students to visit such as the CGV IMAX movie theater with the largest IMAX screen in South Korea; the Four Season Water Park, the only water park in downtown Seoul; and Enter 6 - the largest clothing shopping mall in Korea. Plus there are many more areas to enjoy yourself near campus.
